What Does the PTA do?
The PTA aims to raise funds to help make the school’s budget go further, improve our children’s educational opportunities, provide feedback to the school and hope to add something to the spirit of the community.
You may not know it but as a parent of a child at the school you are already a member of the PTA, how much you chose to be involved is up to you. Obviously, the more people who are involved the better we can be at assisting the school, the children, their parents and the community.
What has the PTA achieved?
It is a reality that school budgets are continuously under pressure, and never more so than at our school. Your support as a parent and PTA member to the fundraising efforts has undoubtedly had a positive impact on all of our children’s educational experiences.
On average the PTA raises between £5,000 – £7,000 per year. We do this by organizing fundraising events in school such as secret shops for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas, Bingo evenings, Discos, the Christmas and Summer Fayres, and Muddy Madness 4 Kids.
In the last three years alone, we have used the money we’ve raised to provide the following educational and fun experiences for the pupils: Space Exploration Day (complete with an inflatable planetarium!) the Birds of Prey Day, the Duck Herding class and the Waterstones trips, where Key Stage 2 pupils get to spend PTA money on the books they want to read for the Key Stage 2 library. We also organise a bed-time story event for our youngest children in the Reception classes.
We have bought extremely beneficial equipment for the school, including 30 laptops, 30 iPads, robotics kits, sports equipment (such as the traversing wall and multipurpose sports goals) outdoor education tables, the outdoor stage, and playground markings for the Key Stage 1 playground!
