Welcome to Orangutan Class (Year 5)

Mr Boreham is the teacher of Orangutan class. Orangutans are lucky to have additional support from their fantastic and very creative teaching assistants!

In Year 5, we spend lots of time trying to make learning stick! We study some fascinating and engaging books and become authors or broadcasters by tasks such as writing our own podcasts!

Like Year 4, we have swimming lessons at a local swimming pool and get to take part in lots of other sporting events such as Mini Youth Games.

Through our Geography and History topics, we explore the fascinating lives of The Maya and The Aztecs. We further develop our map work skills and learn about North and South America.

Lastly, we ensure to follow the national curriculum for the primary curriculum in England for programmes of study and attainment targets for KS2.

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually see the structure of the day ahead.
