Class Information
Year 5 Class Teacher: Mrs L Hamlyn
Year Group Teaching Assistants: Mrs S Harton and Mrs A Squires
Welcome to Lemur Class (Year 5)
Mrs. Hamlyn is the teacher of Lemur class. Lemurs are lucky to have additional support from their fantastic and knowledgeable teaching assistants!
In Year 5, we spend lots of time trying to make learning stick. We study some fascinating and engaging books and become authors or broadcasters by tasks such as writing our own podcasts! Like Year 4, we have swimming lessons at a local swimming pool and get to take part in lots of other sporting events such as Mini Youth Games.
Through our history topics, we explore the fascinating civilisations of The Maya, The Romans and The Ancient Greeks. We also spend time learning about the impact of the Second World War. Throughout the year in Geography, we further develop our map work skills, study different biomes, learn about international trade and also focus on South America.
Lastly, we ensure to follow the national curriculum for the primary curriculum in England for programmes of study and attainment targets for KS2.
Timetable
Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually see the structure of the day ahead.
Terms/Topic Information
Here at Cliffe Woods Primary, we produce a year group newsletter every other term, communicating the key topics that will be covered, these can be found below.
More Information about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.
