Year 4 – Shark Class

Class Information

Class Teacher: Mrs Green

Year Group Teaching Assistants: Mrs S Harton and Mrs. D Haselden

Welcome to Shark Class (Year 4)

Mrs Green teaches Year 4, with both Year 4 classes supported by friendly and experienced teaching assistants.

In Year 4, we spend lots of time building on those basic skills the children have learnt in Year 3. We encourage the children to really use their thinking and reasoning skills, joining in class discussions and offering opinions and suggestions based on their knowledge so far.

In Year 4 we continue to study ancient civilisations and significant world events. We build on the geographical knowledge we were developing in KS1 and Year 3 and continue to study maps of the world, Europe and extreme weather events.

Children in Year 4 sit the multiplication test. Knowing the times tables fluently is such an important skill that can be transferred to all areas of Maths, so we encourage all the children to practise these as frequently as possible.

Lastly, we ensure to follow the national curriculum for the primary curriculum in England for programmes of study and attainment targets for KS2.

Timetable

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually see the structure of the day ahead.
