Welcome to Puggle Class in EYFS
In EYFS we work from EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) documentation, which is a statutory curriculum for all children in England and sets out clear standards for the learning, development and care of your child.
Puggle class is led by the class teacher and EYFS Lead, Mrs Bishop. Mrs Bishop is supported by a strong team of experienced teaching assistants.
In Puggle class, the day consists of both child-initiated and adult-led learning. Your child will spend time every day accessing the environment in the classroom and outdoor classroom. They will join in whole class and group learning activities, in addition to adult-directed tasks both one-to-one and in small groups.
Much of our learning comes from our children and their interests which ensures our children are excited and motivated to learn. Through careful questioning and observations, our staff ensure children are challenged and develop a love of school and of learning. Children enjoy showing us what they can do and are quick to celebrate success. We model resilience, encouraging children to take risks and accept new challenges using a play-based approach.
In EYFS, we follow the phonics programme Little Wandle and the accompanying reading scheme. Phonics is taught every day. The children learn to blend the sounds they have learnt together to read simple words, therefore, beginning their reading journey.
Timetable/Newsletter
Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually see the structure of the day ahead.
Terms/Topic Information
Here at Cliffe Woods Primary, we produce a year group newsletter every other term, communicating the key topics that will be covered, these can be found below.
More Information about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.
